Biography

American author best known for Flowers for Algernon, originally a short story (1959) and later expanded into a novel (1966). The story of a cognitively disabled man who gains and then loses genius through an experimental procedure is one of the most emotionally powerful works of science fiction. It won both the Hugo and Nebula awards.
