Biography

American literary critic, Sterling Professor of Humanities at Yale, and one of the most prominent and controversial literary scholars of the twentieth century. His books The Anxiety of Influence and The Western Canon shaped how generations think about literature. Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human argues that Shakespeare fundamentally created our modern sense of personality.
